HORSEMANSHIP
Everything you can possibly learn about horses in a funfilled, 3 month summer session! Students will complete workbook and gain valuable hands on experience in saddling, grooming, bridling, catching, feeding, training, and vaccinating horses. Students will learn to ride both Western and English and be able to negotiate patterns, stop, back, walk, canter, lope, ride on the trail and jump! They will learn horse breeds, illnesses, medications, colors, terms, disciplines, show techniques--everything we can squeeze into the class! ....................................................95.00 per month
Our goal at The Albee Farm is to train both horse and rider. We use common sense and a firm use of all aides to encourage both our human and equine students to excel. We offer short term CLINICS on such topics as Horsemanship, Western pleasure, English pleasure, Hunt seat and basic rodeo.
We also offer 30 days TRAINING to problem horses. We ARE NOT IN THE BUSINESS OF "BREAKING COLTS". We will however work to correct bad habits in seasoned horses or green broke horses.
We offer RIDING LESSONS on a private or semi-private basis in either English or Western riding with a strong emphasis on control, collection, suppleness and responsiveness. We concentrate on strong legs, soft hands and gentle but firm commands both on the ground and in the saddle. WE ONLY ACCEPT CHILDREN OVER THE AGE OF 8 AND ADULTS.

ENGLISH RIDING/TRAINING
We employ english techniques as the basis for everything we do, even though a student may actually ride in an all purpose or western saddle. We first teach control and collection with two hands on a simple, broken bit. Once the student has developed a strong seat, strong back and strong legs and can move his mount forward into all three gaits and transition smoothly, we move into pattern work where we can develop suppleness and softness in the horse's body and the rider's hands. As the student improves, we will start them over cavaletti and eventually into basic jumping to develop balance and timing. If the student does well and chooses to advance, we then begin a more challening curriculum in hunt seat .

WESTERN RIDING/TRAINING
Our western riding starts with english techniques in a western saddle. Once a rider has become proficient in moving the horse forward with control and collection, we will shift to one handed riding or "neck reining." The student will learn complete collection on loose reins at all three gaits: walk, jog and lope and will be able to perform a controlled hand gallop. The student will learn to back, pivot and side pass. They will also learn patterns. As they improve they will move into Western Pleasure and then into basic rodeo learning the barrel racing pattern and pole bending pattern. We also spend time riding bareback, goat tying and negotiating obstacles that are often encountered on the trail.
We encourage our students to enter local rodeo's at their acquired skill level and to compete in local shows. However, most of our western riders simply want to learn to control and enjoy their horses out in the open while trail or pleasure riding.

ABOUT OUR MASTER INSTRUCTOR
Sharon Bryant begain riding horses in Georgia at age 8. She won many acolades in the English arena and competed in horse shows across Georgia, South Caroline and Alabama well into young adulthood. She eventually discovered western riding and became accomplished at western pleasure, team roping and barrel racing. In the 90's she began the Albee Ranch in Whitehall, Montana where she began breeding, teaching young students and training young and/or problem horses. She currently oversee's all operations at The Albee Farm and teaches a select number of students personally.
